Tips for obtaining a valid GPS signal on NDrive 11:
In order to obtain a GPS signal more effectively, place your sat nav on your car's dashboard, preferably near the windshield, so it won't affect your driving.
When used outdoors, your sat nav may have more difficulty in obtaining a satellite signal in locations having dense trees or tall buildings.
It is common not to be able to fix the satellite signal inside buildings. The signal can take up to 20 minutes if you are using NDrive on your sat nav for the first time, or if you haven't used it for a long time. After obtaining the signal, the GPS reception icon will change to blue and then to green when at least 4 satellites were able to be obtained.
The GPS time decreases significantly after the first use. If you're traveling by plane and you change to another country or continent, it is normal for your sat nav to take longer to obtain a valid GPS signal.
The GPS antenna is usually located on the back, on top of the sat nav and should stay pointing towards the sky, so the satnav placement on seats or hands could slightly decrease signal quality.
There are cars on the market with bulletproof glass that can significantly decrease (or even prevent) the GPS signal reception even in good conditions. In this case, you should move the GPS as close as possible to the side windows that are not shielded and avoid approaching the sat nav to the windscreen, which will block the signal.
Note: This does not apply for automotive radio devices since the GPS antenna is strategically mounted to get the best reception possible, so you'll just want to make sure the vehicle is outdoors and able to obtain a clear reception with the satellites.
If for some reason you're unable to get a valid GPS signal on your radio, check the GPS antenna cable connection to the radio. Sometimes the tightening screw needs to be readjusted.
Checking GPS signal on the NDrive 11 software:
Start the NDrive application by pressing Navigation on your GPS device's main menu. When the map is displayed, tap Menu - My NDrive - About - GPS.
It will be displayed a screen with detailed information about the coordinates of your current location; the number of satellites to which your device is connected; the current speed; altitude of your current location, and a compass showing your orientation.
You can now check the GPS status. Please refer to the information below:
1) NO FIX: When NDrive isn't obtaining a valid fix with any GPS satellite:
The colors below refer to the signal strength:
"Grey" - Signal strength is poor
2) FIX 2D: When NDrive is obtaining a valid GPS signal with 3 GPS satellites at maximum.
The colors below refer to the signal strength:
"Blue" - Satellite Signal strength is good
"Green" - NDrive is obtaining a valid GPS fix with the GPS satellites
"Grey" - Satellite signal strength is poor
3) FIX 3D: When NDrive is obtaining a valid GPS signal with at least 4 GPS satellites and it is ready to navigate:
The colors below refer to the signal strength:
"Blue" - Satellite Signal strength is good
"Green" - NDrive is obtaining a valid GPS fix with the GPS satellites
"Grey" - Satellite signal strength is poor
